Fields and Philips with the green

Sagesse Basketball Team, officially announced the signature of Patrick Fields and Marshall Philips, to be the two foreign players to secure the name of the green castle in the season 2009/2010.

Click Here to check Marshall Philips profile.

Possesses scorer’s mentality, capable of putting up big numbers… Coaches acknowledge “things happen when Pat is in the game”… Puts together stretches of great play, though coaches seek more consistency.
Marshall is just starting to hit his stride, evidenced by his selection in 2005 and 2008 CBA All-Star Games. He has recently gained three seasons of valuable European experience in Italy, Belgium and Germany. The live-legged Phillips runs the floor exceptionally well, changes speeds with a burst of explosiveness and can play above the rim. Phillips is a multi-facted player, who was named to the five-man CBA All-Defensive first team in 20005. Phillips was among the CBA’s statistical leaders in three categories for the 2005 season; 6th in the league in scoring average (19.4 ppg), 3rd in the league in steals per game (2.2 spg), and tied for 4th in the CBA in 3 point field goal percentage (41.5% 3FG). He’s an exceptional defender who can stop dribble penetration, while also working the passing lanes for steals. Phillips can shoot it well from deep off the catch, but is equally effective putting the ball on the deck (very good first step) and blowing by his defender. In a pinch, he can also play some back-up at the point. Played well in his two seasons in Europe. Didn’t have strong statistical seasons, but had to endure under trying circumstances. Had an unlucky season for Leuven in Belgium due to two separate coaching changes and a nagging injury which was bothering him through the last 10 games of the season. In Italy, he played well, but had to play with a scoring point guard, who rarely passed him the ball. In Germany, he joined a team full of Americans, but played a strong role, despite sharing the stats with the other Americans. Excellent team player, no maintenance off the court and a unselfish player who will do whatever it takes to win. Has strong references in Europe.

Sahel 4 – 4 Sagesse

In a surprising move, neither Sagesse fans, nor Sahel fans, was upset of this result, as both teams show that none of them should lose this game.

Sahel started the game in an attacking moves, and managed to start the scoring show with Tarek Omrani on 10 minutes. But Sagesse player Ivan equalized on 31 minutes.

Than Ivan scored his second goal in the game as the 2nd half start, giving the lead to the away team. National team striker, Rony Azar, equalized on the first shot for his team. Ivan was able to set his hat-trick goal to give the 3-2 lead for Sagesse, but Safaa foreign Charlie Davidson scored his frist goal in the game and equalized levels.

Ivan couldn’t get out from this type of matches, without scoring his 4th goal in the 85th minute. Sagesse fans were happy to see the reminder of the game on their hands. But results hasn’t finish yet, as a mistake from defender, gave Safaa a penalty, which Charlie Davidson scored by his 2nd goal and equalized 4-4.

Before whistling the end of the game, Safaa took another penalty, but Sagesse goalkeeper Wahid Fatal stopped Charlie‘s placed shot, and ended the game by a draw 4-4.
